Great doll turns pink in the sun to teach kids to use sunscreen

Aruba is sunny, 360 days a year. So what is the no. 1 activity during your kids school vacation? Going to the beach!
A day at the beach sounds like a dream to most kids, but parents know that slathering them with SPF can be a full time job on a day that’s meant to be relaxing. Persuading your children to apply sunscreen when they go to the beach could be a little easier thanks to a new doll.

Created by sunscreen firm Nivea, it turns a painful shade of pink when left unprotected – just like a child’s skin. The firm tested the gadget on a Rio de Janeiro beach in a bid to raise awareness among children.

‘Everybody knows that kids hate applying sun block,’ the firm behind the stunt, ad agency FCB Brazil said. ‘That’s why we created Nivea doll, a toy that sunburns when exposed to UV rays. Kids learn the importance of skin care as they apply sun block on the doll to protect it.’
