Whatever beach you choose, previous vacationers advise you pack a hat and plenty of sunblock. Aruba’s strong trade winds are great for water sports but can take you by surprise and make it hard to determine when you’re sunburned.

Chrystalline water, high winds and a rocky inland make a perfect storm for adventure lovers on an island vacation. In Aruba, some of the key attractions include watersports like windsurfing and scuba diving (or taking an all-terrain vehicle tour around the north coast’s limestone cliffs.

Sightseeing

If you really want to see Aruba, rent an ATV for a day or two of exploring. Arikok National Park is a must-see ecological preserve where visitors can learn about indigenous island wildlife. Close out a day with a sunset near the California Lighthouse on Aruba’s northwest tip.

Shopping

Aruba has a few souvenirs shopaholics should be sure not to miss like Dutch cheese, aloe vera or tiny divi-divi trees. Head to the centre of Oranjestad to make your purchases. But keep in mind that unlike other people from the Caribbean, most Arubans consider price haggling to be rude.

Attractions for Kids

Aruba has a lot of family-friendly activities. The calm waters and winds around Baby Beach attract many young families looking for a safe place to sunbathe. Head to the Santa Cruz area to pet donkeys at the Donkey Sanctuary Aruba, then snap photos of your kids feeding the animals apples and carrots.

Nightlife

Aruba’s nightlife can compete that of many large cities. Choices for an evening in Oranjestad include a loud dance club, a lower key pub crawl, pulling slots in a casino or setting sail on a booze cruise. Local magazines like “Aruba Daily” chronicle the best nightlife for the evening — you can pick them up in many hotel lobbies.
